The Royal Distributing Team left the RACE Banquet in Belleville this past weekend with a trunk full of trophies and special awards.

Michael Leon was accompanied by his wife Jennifer, and tuner Carlos Carrascosa by his girlfriend Sonia. John Ilkiw from Elka Suspension was also present for the occasion.

Michael was awarded with trophies for 1st overall in the Pro Superbike class, for 3rd overall in Pro 600 and for 3rd overall in Master Open.

As well, Michael was proud to receive special awards voted by the RACE staff, pit crews and other racers. He received the Tony Marchese Memorial Award which is presented to the Pro Privateer Competitor judged to be the best appearing rider / machine combination of the season. Michael Leon rode his Royal Distributing CBR600RR to a conservative 6th place finish at the final Pro Superbike race of the 2012 RACE SuperSeries, at Shannonville Motorsports Park. The finish earned Michael enough points to win the RACE Pro Superbike Championship and the right to wear the overall #1 plate for the 2013 RACE Series.

The team came to the season finale leading Kawasaki Superbike rider Kris Garvie by a single point in the Superbike standings. Unfortunately, Kris was unable to attend the event due to the passing of his father. The whole team would like to extend their deepest condolences to Kris and the Garvie family at this difficult time.

The Saturday practice sessions and heat races were canceled due to flooding on the track from the heavy rain that fell Friday night. Sunday afternoon’s finals were gridded based on points. Read more…

NEWS: Leon wins at Shannonville, now leads the RACE Superbike Championship by one single point!

Royal Distributing rider Michael Leon dominated the Labour Day weekend races at Shannonville, riding his CBR600RR on Dunlop tires. Michael won both the Pro Superbike and Pro 600 races, extending his lead to more than 7 seconds by each race’s midway point, before settling in to bring home the wins.

The weekend was not without difficulties. The team was forced to sit out Friday practice as crew chief Carlos Carrascosa dealt with a leaking radiator, a reminder of the crash at the previous weekend’s Mosport event. The team borrowed a spare radiator from fellow competitor, Sean Huffman on Friday evening. “I am so thankful to have a friend like Sean. He literally gave us the keys to his house and sent us to his place to pick up the radiator. We were tied in points for second in the Superbike championship, yet he still did everything he could to get us on the grid to settle it on the track. He had already lent me a steering damper and fairing stay. He is a true Sportsman! ” commented Michael. Read more…

NEWS: Leon challenges for the podium at Mosport.

The Royal Distributing Racing Team had a breakthrough weekend at the final, double header round of the Mopar Canadian Superbike Championship, August 25-26 at Mosport.  Rider Michael Leon was on pace and able to challenge the regular front runners with his CBR600RR, prepared by crew chief Carlos Carrascosa.

In Friday’s qualifying session, Michael put the bike on the front row.  He recorded the 3rd fastest time with a lap of 1:26.285 seconds.  Pole was set by Raphael Archambault with a time of 1:25.274 seconds. Read more…

Royal Distributing rider Michael Leon left the Shannonville Fabi track with three more podium finishes after competing in Round 3 of the RACE Series.  Despite the success; 3rd in Pro Superbike, 2nd in Pro 600 and 2nd in Masters Open, Michael was disappointed considering that he had better performances on Saturday with 2 wins and a 2nd place during the heat races.
