The Royal Distibuting/Michael Lanni MotorRacing/MBP Superbike team was created when rider Michael Leon and tuner Guy Martin teamed up at the start of 2009. Montreal businessman and longtime Ducati enthusiast Michael Lanni agreed to join them in a three way partnership. Michael Lanni would buy a brand new Ducati 1198S, Guy Martin would be responsible to prepare and maintain it and Michael Leon would be responsible to put together the necessary sponsors and race the bike in the 2009 RACE Superseries Superbike Championship. Royal Distributing owner John Mochrie signed on as title sponsor to the team. Well known for thier popular mail order catalogue, Royal Distributing also has three superstores located in Guelph, Innisfil and Sudbury.

Producing 170hp (125kW) and with a dry weight of just 169kg (372.6lb), the new 1198 S now incorporates more World Superbike technology than ever before by taking the 1198 motor and adding top-of-the-range suspension, and lightweight chassis components.
During preparation, all the non essential components, such as lighting, are removed. The engine, along with the suspension and braking systems are upgraded to the highest level of performance available within the class rules.
