Heartbroken.
Super Series Rd 5 Race Report
The final round of the Shannonville Super Series ended in tragedy on Sunday. Grant Nesbitt passed away while competing. Grant was a kind loving husband and father. He was the embodiment of passion for our sport. Our racing community is still in shock, and we are all crushed by the tremendous loss. Collectively, our thoughts and prayers go out to Julie, Stacey, Toni and all of Grant’s family and friends. Prior to the incident, our team had excellent results. I won the Sprint Cup race. Then won again in Pro Superbike. My pace in Pro Superbike was fast, with all but one lap solidly in the 1:06s, despite 50 km/hr winds. My best lap was the in the last half of the race, a 1:06.1. I finished 2nd in the Sunday afternoon Sprint Cup race. This weekend was a huge step forward for our team and I rode the best I have in years. Our accomplishments this weekend feel meaningless. There is only a feeling of sadness for the Nesbitt family. Like most in the paddock, I truly liked Grant very much and was very fond of him. What I liked most was the dedication, love and pride that he had for his family. He was one of the good ones. Rest in peace my friend.
