NEWS: Michael Leon Receives Special Awards at the RACE Superseries Awards Banquet

Royal Distributing rider, Michael Leon and his team, capped off the racing season in Belleville at the RACE Superseries Awards Banquet held on Saturday, November 5th. RACE officials, CRCA Marshalls, fellow racers, friends, and family members joined together to celebrate a great season of racing and all the hard work done by those who contributed to the Race Superseries’ events Shannonville.
At the Banquet, Michael was awarded with trophies for the Pro Superbike Championship, the Open Sprint Championship and the RACE number one plate for 2017. He, and crew chief Kyle Blakely, were also the recipient of some special awards that are voted on by the racers, crew members, racers’ family members, RACE officials, and the CRCA Marshalls.
Kyle received the Danny Rae / John Nelson Tuning Achievement Award in recognition for his efforts preparing the Royal Distributing BMW S1000RR Superbike this season.
Michael was awarded the Tony Marchese Memorial Award. Since 1985, this trophy has been presented to the RACE competitor judged to be the best appearing rider/machine combination of that racing season. Michael was a prior recipient of this award in 2010 and 2012.
The CRCA Marshalls selected Michael for the CRCA Rider of The Year Trophy, awarded annually for “Sportsmanship, Dash and Color”, since 1981.
Michael also received a new award. His name is the first to appear on the Pat Gonsalves for Most Exciting Pro Rider.
“It was an incredible year! I am so honoured to be selected for these awards. What a great way to finish off the season! A huge thanks to all of those who voted for Kyle and I, and thanks to all of our sponsors that made the season possible,” commented Michael
The team is busy preparing for the 2017 racing season and looks forward to the winter Motorcycle Show season.
